TORANI SCANLATIONS Presents: "Mandala Nepal Manga Writing Competition"

Manga drawing is a relatively new format of competition in Nepal and the only time it was conducted before was back in 2074 B.S by the Neptaku group.

Over these years, we have seen a lot of people redrawing the original manga panels and posting them over social media. We have also seen fellow Nepali artists draw anime/manga related arts and upload them on social media while also posting for the sale of the artistic work. This shows that there are a lot of unknown talents who would love to promote their passion and try to earn something out of their work. To promote our goal, we have decided to organise a manga drawing competition for Nepali artists who think of having such creations of their own. In future, we will continue to hold such competitions and eventually release the original Nepali Mandala’s.

Project Scope

We hope to develop the creativity of fellow brothers and sisters while promoting our culture and country.

For participants who would like to draw but do not have any suitable stories, we have 2 sets of sample story plots. We can ask the interested participants to draw 15-20 panels for the manga with dialogues and descriptions in Nepali for the competition.

Registration deadline: Asar 25, 2078 B.S

Submission deadline: Shrawan 05, 2078 B.S

Terms and Conditions

All the participants must agree to the following terms and conditions before taking part in the competition.

1. Participants are free to draw on a plot of their own but they will have to submit the written plot in Nepali (Devanagari) and are not allowed any form of plagiarism.

2. Participants will be requested to draw the plot's setting and are also free to draw the character design of their own for both MC, FMC, and side characters.

3. They will be judged based on the clarity of their work, visualization strength, and uniqueness.

4. Participants can work alone or in teams of up to 3 members. Team participants are needed to draw at least 20 panels to be valid.

5. The Mandala manga has to be written in Nepali and priority would be given to the works based in Nepal.

6. Minimum 15 pages for one chapter including the cover page.

7. The story needs to have a continuation with at least 5-7 chapters to be published on our website. One-shots are also accepted but it needs to be at least 30 pages.

8. Stories without continuation but not ‘One shot’ are also free to participate however they will not be published neither physically nor digitally.*

9. The story can be of any genre.

10. The manga can be hand-drawn or digital. Hand drawn manga are needed to be scanned before sending to us and should be the final work.

11. Mature/R rated contents are not allowed. Offensive languages can be used with censorship.

12. No form of discrimination based on caste, sex, religion etc can be depicted in the manga that offends any relevant party.

13. Manga based on social issues such as discrimination, dowry problem, domestic violence, political issues can be presented, however, they will undergo strict check from the organizers. The writer is not allowed to complain in case his/her work is not published due to the sensitivity of the matter.

14. Torani Scanlations will hold the rights to publish, distribute and monetize all the submitted work. However, the artist themselves will hold the credit as the creator and will get proper royalties on most forms of earning from their work.
